Automatic Writing and the Problem of Ideas.

Automatic Writing and the Problem of Ideas.: "Sales, the transfer of enthusiasm. The problem is that no one else is likely to share the same enthusiasm as the one who came up with the idea. Instead, you will get some version of what has commonly become known as the person who plays the role of devils advocate. This person will bring up no less than about dozen problems or issues which are significant to why the idea can not succeed. In some cases the person playing the role of devils advocate will know what he is talking, and in many cases, the critic will simply be shooting down the idea, because that is just what people do."

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org: "Lamed Vav Tzadikim. A great example of a Lamed Vav Tzadik from the Torah would be one of the 12 brothers, or son of Yakov,  or tribes: Joseph.

Joseph was hurried out prison over to Pharoh to interpret his dream. He is given a new name by  Pharoh; Zaphenath-paneah. which means according to Rashi and Rashbam means “he who explains what is hidden”.

Reality: When the Dreamer Wakes Up and Tell Us What to Do.

In my humble opinion, Joseph, is the is a perfect example of who and what is a Lamed Vav Tzadik. Under normal circumstances a Lamed Vav Tzadik could be found in very low or humble places. However when it is required for someone to understand Hashem’s will, and put into effect the proper changes or tikkun, then it is the Lamed Vav Tzadik who is someone who can bring down the wisdom from heaven and implement the proper corrections (tikkun) on earth."

The Shabbat Primer: Practicalities

The Shabbat Primer: Practicalities: "ince driving is forbidden and since you have new priorities for Shabbat, more time will be spent in or near the home. It therefore becomes desirable to rearrange the child's schedule as much as possible so that it won't interfere with everyone else's.
Very young babies are hard to schedule. You can try to feed them before the family eats so that during the meal the baby will be content and, hopefully, after the meal, sleepy. Then it might be possible for you to get some rest, too.

It's awkward to keep everyone waiting for kiddush while Mommy's nursing, but if it occasionally happens, there's no reason for panic. If the family and guests would like to wait until you're done, fine. Otherwise, you can go ahead with kiddush and then serve some cake or cookies to hold everyone until you're ready to join them for the meal."

In my first match in the prelims, I fought a girl named Barbosa who had just got out of prison and her total focus was to eat me alive, but I gave her 3 standing eight counts and ended the bout in the 1st round. I moved to the semi-finals and faced the previous year's champion, Christine Bruno. I was the inexperienced younger fighter at the time & a huge underdog, but I ended up stopping her in the 2nd round and moving to the finals in Madison Square Garden."

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org: "When I was in high school, I had a teacher who taught us about the nature of the element of silver in a class called Photo Science. He mentioned that one could never really see silver, because it was an element that was sensitive to light, the very moment the light hit the silver it would be changed. I can even recall the hand gesture my teacher made when he explained the concept. The idea he was explaining was that the surface of the silver we see, had already been exposed to light, and the very moment we scratch the surface of the silver (to see the unreacted silver underneath) it will have already changed. This is somehow part of my belief, as I write these pages. Whatever I will learn, and whatever I will seek to explain, as I write these words that you are now reading, will somehow at least in concept change the mysterious or hidden nature of the Lamed Vav Tzadikim."

We Must All Do the Thing that Our Hearts Tell Us, We Must Do « TheWritersCafe.org: "the danger of waiting for some sort of solution, to some extremely complex problem, to simply fall down from heaven, can even often be far greater than simply acting with all the information of the complex situation that we are confronted with.

Acting and doing is essential for life, for life goes on with or without us. When the great train of life stops right in front of you, and opens it’s doors, all that is required is that you step on, because the great train of life, has many stops ahead, and many people to pick up along the way to eternity."

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org

Lamed Vav Tzadikim « TheWritersCafe.org: "The idea of Lamed Vav actually standing for the numerical value of 36, may indeed be secondary to understanding the meaning of the shape of the Hebrew letters. Lamed is distinct in that it is the only Hebrew letter that goes above the guideline. Kabbalistically this can be explained to be the letter that taps into shemayim (heaven) to capture a creation or an idea. However capturing an idea alone might not be enough, and that is where the Vav comes in. The straight line from the top to the bottom which can be thought of to be the essence of the Vav, is what is needed to take an idea who’s origin is in Shemayim, and bring it down to the world where it van be revealed, understood, and acted upon."

People Of Earth: Prepare For Economic Disaster

People Of Earth: Prepare For Economic Disaster: "even without all of the trouble in the Middle East the world was already heading for an oil crunch. The global demand for oil is rising at a very vigorous pace. For example, last year Chinese demand for oil increased by almost 1 million barrels per day. That is absolutely staggering. The Chinese are now buying more new cars every year than Americans are, and so Chinese demand for oil is only going to continue to increase.

Much could be done to increase the global supply of oil, but so far our politicians and the major oil company executives are sitting on their hands. They seem to like the increasing oil prices.

So for now it looks like oil prices will continue to rise and this is going to result in much higher prices at the gas pump.

Already, ABC News is reporting that regular unleaded gasoline is going for $5.29 a gallon at one gas station in Orlando, Florida."

FrumFind.org » Blog Archive » Staying Closer During The Social Media Revolution.: "Briefly, it’s my belief and concern as people become more and more “networked” their list of “networked” friends versus true friends will become increasingly difficult to manage. I would like to suggest that people stay in contact utilizing a simple e-mail format.
What I suggest if you have a large list of friends, send out about 50 or so e-mails over the next few days to stay in touch, make it personal or keep it general. Just as texting is the new, “hi, how are things kind of call” a quick e-mail update, even if not personal is a way to stay connected.
While it may be a major goal of the phone companies to keep every single person connected, every single minute of the day, there are people out there that perhaps we should send a monthly e-mail to, so that they know we are still thinking of them."

Before I go with the more tag, in one of my classic cliff-hangers, I would like to propose that the intuitive understanding that one may have regarding weather or not these question are even “fair” questions to ask, based on normal logic and philosophical questioning methods; I would also like to state for the record, that answering these questions in an essential component of developing a true understanding of the amazing depth, and the deep mysteries that the great Kabbalists, such as Rabbi Isaac Luria, the Arizal of the 16th century were able to unlock, understand, and explain."

BARS FOR THE MIND: BIBLICAL ARCHETYPE RECALL SYMBOLS

BARS FOR THE MIND: BIBLICAL ARCHETYPE RECALL SYMBOLS: "the order of the Sages proscribed daily prayer: “the amidah or shemonah esrei.” (Standing Prayer- or 18 Blessings.)
These blessings are mystically taught to correspond to the vertebrae in the human spine or the number of times the name of G-d occurs in the biblical account of creation.

From either vantage point this foundational prayer is taught to parallel the basic foundation of our physical world: our very bodies and the physical world which surrounds it.
In the study of psychology the pioneer Maslow formulated a hierarchy of human needs starting with the most basic being physical and enumerating nine more in descending priority to human existence.
While that list may or may not be accurate for human instinct, from a spiritual perspective we want to underscore that priorities based on ideals of Divine will are higher then those of basic instinct"

Lessons From the Cockpit: Everyday Wisdom from the Flying Life - Lessons - Live Your Future Now: "When I ask that question to a variety of people, most answers are not exotic. People say they would:

Read
Write
Hike
Camp
Spend more time outdoors
Work in the garden
Exercise
Spend time with friends
I’ve yet to hear anyone say they would:

Eat more
Watch more television
Surf the internet more
The question is great because the answers always remind me that most of the things we all want for ourselves, are simple activities we can have now. Yet so many defer them until they “have enough money” or “have more time.”"

HaMavdil: "3. Were it kosher (it probably could be replicated using kosher ingredients) would it be an acceptable substitute for a Rams head as a symbolic food on the evening of Rosh HaShanah? Some might opine that it actually has a lower grossness quotient than boiled Carp or Whitefish heads (especially with hanging fahrglihverteh fish yoikh) and/or roast Lambs jaws with the gingivitis afflicted teeth still visible. I wouldn't. But then, there's no accounting for taste."

Sefer Catalogue

Sefer Catalogue: "wrote a paper that addressed the question of whether the halachah can follow the Zohar when it contradicts the halachah as determined by the poskim. My basic thesis was that it depends on who wrote the Zohar: The earlier the Zohar's author lived, then the more authoritative it would be.

In truth, though I couldn't find the source, this isn't my own idea. It comes from a quote from somewhere or other to the effect that: כדאי רשב"י לסמוך עליו, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai is worthy to rely upon. This is a clever argument because it means that if you don't follow the Zohar, you are denying Rashbi's greatness. "

Types of Jewish Holidays - My Jewish Learning

Types of Jewish Holidays - My Jewish Learning: "These are festivals that are mentioned in either the Torah (Such as Passover) or other books of the Hebrew Bible. There are two central chapters in the Torah that list the biblical holidays: Leviticus 23 and Deuteronomy 16. These chapters list two kinds of Israelite holidays, the three pilgrimage festivals and the High Holy Days.

The three pilgrimage festivals of Pesach (Passover), Shavuot (Feast of Weeks), and Sukkot (Festival of Booths) mark not only historical events in the development of the Jewish people, but also agricultural celebrations and the seasonal harvests in the land of Israel. These holidays are called pilgrimage festivals because in ancient times all Israelite men were commanded to travel to the Temple in Jerusalem, to take part in the festival celebrations. Even today, Pesach, Shavuot, and Sukkot continue to mark significant national-spiritual events in the life of the Jewish people, namely the Exodus from Egypt, the receiving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai, and God’s sheltering of the Israelites in the desert for 40 years, respectively."

English Hebraica: "Over at the Main Line I posted about a beautiful book called Pantographia; containing accurate copies of all the known alphabets in the world; together with an English explanation of the peculiar force or power of each letter (by Edmund Fry, London, 1799).

Great examples of many different kinds of alphabets included, with sources given. In addition, the Lord's Prayer is presented in each alphabet (and language) along with English transliteration. It is the nature of the beast that such a work would include lots of examples which look a little bit strange to the modern eye that has seen many of the actual scripts, as opposed to Western renderings of them (see, e.g.).

From his presentation of Hebrew (pp. 142-151):

Rationalist Judaism

Rationalist Judaism: "A number of people wrote to me about last week's report that a group of scientists at CERN tentatively claimed to have measured neutrino particles traveling faster than the speed of light - which modern science, based on special relativity, deems impossible. "If scientists were wrong about this, then maybe they were wrong about everything!" Maybe the universe isn't really 14 billion years old - maybe it's only 5771 years old! Maybe the kidneys really do provide counsel to the heart! Maybe elephants really do jump to reach food!

And maybe the world really is flat?

Of course, the correct view is that some scientific facts are better grounded than others. Scientists might have to change their mind one day about the universe being 14 billion years old, but they are not going to discover that it is only a few thousand years old. "

9th of Av: the Seer of Lublin’s Yahrzeit « The Wonders of Your Torah: "According to the sages, from conception to “the formation of the fetus” (when the major features of the fetus become well defined in the womb) takes 40 days. 40 days beginning from the 9th of Av brings us to the 18th of Elul.

On the 18th of Elul 5369 (1609), the Maharal of Prague passed away. On that very same day, 89 years later (the 18th of Elul 5458), the Ba’al Shem Tov was born. 47 years later, on the same day (the 18th of Elul 5505), Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Lubavitcher Rebbe, was born.

Similarly, on the 7th of Adar Moses passed away, on his own birthday, at the age of 120. We are taught that not only was he born 120 years before his passing, but that in fact every year he is born anew on that very same day, the 7th of Adar."

Todays Clouds: FrumFind.org » Blog Archive » High Level Ideas Down to the People.: "an elaborate treatment of a small point consider this idea. Moshe was chosen to lead the emerging Jewish nation out of Egypt (at least in part-according to chazal) for his humble nature. He still had the difficult task of interfacing with the Jewish people and leading them into a totally unfamiliar situation. Therefore his personal involvement in the retrieval of Joseph’s bones was something of special significance in that in brought him closer to the people that he was chosen by G-d to lead out of Egypt""

Rabbis-Notebook - Shoftim - Torah.org

Rabbis-Notebook - Shoftim - Torah.org: "t G-d judged, condemned, and punished the nation using a scale of justice calibrated to that generation's potential. Although only Achan transgressed G-d's law the entire nation shared the blame. The justification for doing so (while not exempting Achan of blame) was due to the power and influence that the environment of the nation should have had upon Achan. Had the entire nation behaved in a way that expressed total abhorrence to transgressing G-d's law Achan would not have taken from the forbidden wealth of Yericho. For some reason the nation as a whole was not 100% committed to G-d's definition of right and wrong, good and evil; therefore, the entire nation was punished because of an individual's transgression. HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok: "have Kabbalah without Halakha (Jewish Law). This would be akin to a soul without a body. This is what we call a ghost. There are many Kabbalah cults operating today and HaRav Bar Tzadok still publicly speaks out to set the record straight by providing accurate and correct information in this area.

This is why our website was named Kosher Torah, to serve as a source for practical and realistic teachings that strip away the hype and cultish garments of mysticism and to provide authentic, legitimate, grounded teachings that emancipate the soul to see the sanity and sheer simple wisdom of the Torah.

While the Yeshiva began as a Sephardic institute placing emphasis on the Torah teachings of the great Sages of this community, we have found this to be rather limiting. Therefore, KosherTorah includes the teachings of all schools of kosher Torah, regardless of their ethnic origins. HaRav Bar Tzadok will often quote RaMBaM alongside the Baal Shem Tov and the Ben Ish Hai alongside the Hafetz Hayim. All Torah that is good, proper and true are welcome here."

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok: "aRav Bar Tzadok officially established Yeshivat Benei Nviim in 1992 to serve as an anti-missionary, anti-cult organization; to address the growing concerns of spiritual misguidance and misinformation that is pervasive in the Jewish community at large.

Following in the footsteps of the great Sephardic Sages of the previous century HaRav Bar Tzadok began to use the teachings of Kabbalah as a means to draw wayward souls back into the Torah way of life.

After many years of mixed success, HaRav Bar Tzadok withdrew from his position of publicly teaching Kabbalah. He realized that while many people are drawn to the myth of mysticism, not that many were ready and willing to apply its sacred teachings correctly in proper coordination with a life of Torah and mitzvot observance."

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok: "New York, Ariel Bar Tzadok left for Israel in 1979 and studied in some of the finest Sephardic yeshivot in Jerusalem, including Porat Yosef (Old City) under Hakham Shalom Kohen.

In June 1983, HaRav Bar Tzadok received his Rabbinic ordination (Haredi Ultra-Orthodox) from HaRav Ya'akov Peretz (shlita), Rosh Yeshiva of Collel Hekhal Pinhas.

While studying at Hekhal Pinhas, HaRav Bar Tzadok was blessed by Heaven to become the private student of the renowned Mekubal, Rebbe Meir Levi zt"l, the foremost student of the Head Mekubal of Jerusalem, Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi ztl.

Upon returning to the United States, HaRav Bar Tzadok augmented his education with studies in Jungian psychology at the Center in New York. HaRav Bar Tzadok continued to expand his education in areas of the worlds religions, philosophies and psychological systems. The Rav also explored the teachings of many occult systems and cults. After developing a working understanding of the parameters of human consciousness and how it touches both seen and unseen worlds, HaRav Bar Tzadok began his career in Rabbinic/Life Coach counseling."

HaRav Ariel Bar Tzadok: "Let me explain. The future is uncertain. We can prepare for every kind of scenario. Yet, there is one constant throughout everything. You still remain you. Regardless of all your preparations, and "bullets and beans," you still remain you. Your heart and soul will be as weak or as strong, regardless of everything that you surround it with.
The real problem and the real solution is the same. They are both you! Therefore investing in bettering yourself is of the highest priority and value. You can't take your stuff with you, but whatever you place within your mind and soul will stay with you forever, in this world and in the world to come."

Rabbi Rachamim Pauli Drasha: Parsha Re'eh, Miracles Galore, Elul, Border Patrol: " Thursday prior to the publication of this Drasha or Blog; my wife invited over an old friend from work and the guests parked their car slightly up the hill. The Toyota gears park in neutral and the handbrakes were not raised fully. We saw the car as they left on the other side of the street near a construction site where there is almost a 12 foot drop until where the neighbors will be building a shelter. The curb stopped the car and no other cars were on the road and no children during that time. And from my standpoint did not crash into my car."

Welcome to Shema Emet Messianic Internet Community / shemaemet.org: "For two thousand years we have all been taught that Israel is the Jewish people
and the Jewish people are Israel. This misunderstanding has crippled our ability
to truly glean from the scriptures all that was originally intended. We as
Believers have lost our mission, purpose and depth of knowledge of the scriptures
and it is largely because of not understanding this very important topic. The
greatest prophecy of the bible concerns this very subject. Many have called this
teaching the key to understanding the entire bible! I will let Professor C.A.L.

Torah Reading - Torah Services

Torah Reading - Torah Services: Torah reading service begins when a member of the congregation is given the honor of opening the Ark and taking out the Torah, with much respect and ceremony. The Torah is then taken to the podium (Bimah), which is situated in the center of the sanctuary. On the occasion when it is necessary to read two or three different portions, two or three scrolls may be taken from the Ark. One or two additional members of the congregation are then honored with carrying the additional Torah Scrolls to the podium.

As the Torah Scroll passes by, members of the congregation kiss it as a sign of love and respect.

The Hebrew Letters (excerpts): Yud

The Hebrew Letters (excerpts): Yud: Before the tzimtzum, the power of limitation was hidden, latent within G-d's Infinite Essence. Following the tzimtzum, this power of limitation became revealed, and paradoxically the Infinite Essence of G-d that originally "hid" the power of limitation now Itself became hidden (not in truth, but only from our limited human perspective) within the point of contracted light.

From within this point of limitation is revealed the secret of the ten sefirot, the Divine channels of light through which G-d continually brings His world into being. Ten, the numerical value of the yud, is also the number of commandments (literally "statements") revealed by G-d to His People Israel at Sinai.

The Hebrew Letters (excerpts): Yud

The Hebrew Letters (excerpts): Yud: The secret of this point is the power of the Infinite to contain finite phenomena within Himself and express them to apparent external reality. Finite manifestation begins from a zero-dimensional point, thereafter developing into a one-dimensional line and two-dimensional surface. This is alluded to in the full spelling of the letter yud (yud-vav-dalet): "point" (yud), "line" (vav), "surface" (dalet). These three stages correspond in Kabbalah to: "point" (nekudah), "spectrum" (sefirah), "figure" (partzuf). The initial point, the essential power of the yud, is the "little that holds much." The "much" refers to the simple Infinity of G-d hidden within the initial point of revelation, which reflects itself as the Infinite potential of the point to develop and express itself in all the manifold finite phenomena of time and space.

The Hebrew Letters (excerpts): Chet

The Hebrew Letters (excerpts): Chet: According to the Ari z"l," the letter chet is constructed by combining the two previous letters, vav and zayin, with a thin bridge-shaped line, referred to as the chatoteret ("hunchback"). The new energy effected by the union of the vav--or yashar--and the zayin--or chozer--is the secret of "hovering" or "touching yet not touching." The image of "hovering" appears at the very beginning of Creation: "And the spirit of God was 'hovering' over the water." The word "hovering" (merachefet) is the eighteenth word in the Torah

Do I need to study Torah almost every waking moment?

Will I need to devote a lifetime, sincerely seeking true atonement?

Do I need to help everyone I meet, till I’m nearly going broke?

Do I need to sincerely listen, to everyone even the most jaded folk?

Do I need to risk a fortune and wager everything I own?

Do I need to sell my house and wander forever without a home?

No I tell you it’s not that way; it is so simple yet so true.

G-d is not so very far, He is as near as your own heart?"

Norway mourns, buries dead, a week after massacre | Reuters: "Police interrogated Breivik on Friday, for the second time since he was arrested.

'He is calm, he behaves calmly,' his lawyer Geir Lippestad told NRK public television. He said Breivik showed no remorse, saying the killings were 'a necessary act ... a war against the rule by Muslims.'

The Norwegian Police Security Service said Breivik probably acted alone, doubting his statements that he was a member of a wider group of 'Knights Templar.'

'The terrorist acts bring no increase in the threat from known extreme right or left-wing groups in Norway,' it said.

'It is most likely that the perpetrator planned and carried out the actions with no support from others,' it said, calling the bombing and shooting 'unique both in a national and international context.'"

None of the roles by themselves accurately surmise who I am. The inner me is someone who cannot simply be defined or labeled by any one label."

Soul Reservoir, When Everything Else Dries Up!

It is simply not right to create a blog with this name, and then just walk away. However the true demands of the real world constantly tug at my existence demanding my attention.

This blog quite simply was born of a need to describe in some may words what another one of my websites is actually about despite its diverse nature. Yet the creation of this does indeed call for poetry rather than just simple prose. The proper image is required as well.

This things will appear, at the proper time.
